Call for Papers

The 23nd international conference is jointly organized by the Faculty of International Relations & the Faculty of Business Administration, Prague University of Economics and Business, and the Faculty of Commerce, University of Economics in Bratislava. The main focus of the conference is the region of Central and Eastern Europe and its position in the global economy, since this region is playing an increasingly important role within the economic development of the whole European continent.

Five sessions will be held within the conference: International Trade, International Business & Management, International Finance, International Marketing & Consumer Behavior, and International Tourism.

The conference topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Global Trade,
  • Global Value Chains and CEE Region,
  • International Finance,
  • Corporate Social Responsibility in the International Business,
  • Sustainable Economic Development from Global Perspective,
  • Changes in the International Marketing, Management and Business Strategies,
  • Challenges in the International Tourism,
  • Consumer Behavior.

Abstracts in English are to be submitted electronically on the registration page by 7th January 2023 16th January 2023 and their length is limited to 1000 symbols.

Full papers in English (after the approval of submitted abstract) are to be submitted following the paper template by 12th February  2023 27th February 2023 at the latest. The length of each paper must not exceed 15 pages (including references). Each paper has to involve a chapter constituting an original empirical or analytical development that contributes to the current theoretical state of the art. Case studies are acceptable as well. Each participant can be the first author of only one paper.

The review process of each paper is double-blind, based on two reviews. Results of reviews will be sent to authors by March 27, 2023.

The conference will be hosted by the Prague University of Economics and Business . The entire program of the conference will be transmitted online to enable active participation to all participants, even to those who might be, for some reason, not able to travel.

Conference proceedings will be sent for evaluation to Web of Science (CPCI database) and Scopus. The conference proceedings of 2015, 2016 and 2018 are indexed in the CPCI, and the ones of 2017, 2019, 2020, and 2021 are under review process. The most recent papers were submitted for indexation and are available here: 2022. The authors can decide about the publication of the full paper in conference proceedings or an abstract in the book of abstracts. Papers published as abstracts can be sent for publication to scientific journals. The organizers’ reviewed journals are CEBR, Economic Review, and Studia commercialia Bratislavensia.

Aim & scope

The conference’s main objectives are identifying and analyzing ways and strategies whereby internationally operating businesses can maintain and raise their competitiveness. The conference also concerns sustainability and socially responsible strategies.  The conference focuses on the whole Central and Eastern European region. For the last 22 years, it has constituted a valuable platform linking together excellent researchers and business representatives. It creates the opportunity to present recent research and to discuss the future and developments in the changing business environment in the CEE region.

Each year, interesting key-note speakers are invited to discuss current development in international business and questions that resonate in the business community. The conference can be attended in person or online. Researchers are invited to attend the conference in person. In case this is not possible, they are welcome to follow the program and join the discussions online. All documents are free to be read and downloaded. Conference papers published since 2015 are all available on the conference website.
Double blind review Cooperation with university journals Flexibility and individual approach
The review process of each paper is double-blind, based on two reviews. Accepted papers will be consulted by the university journals CEBR and Studia commercialia Bratislavensia, and authors of selected papers will be offered the possibility to submit the extended paper for review in those journals. Selected papers upon the author´s decision will not be published as full text in the conference proceedings. Authors can decide whether to publish a full paper in Conference proceedings or an abstract in the Book of abstracts. Papers published in conference proceedings will receive a DOI (Digital Object Identifier) for easy identification.

Conference fee

The conference fee is 150,- €. The conference fee includes the organization of the conference, review process costs, participation of one author at the conference and participation of all co-authors in the online event. The conference fee for co-authors participating in the conference in person is 50,- €. Payment is accepted solely by bank transfer. Confirmation of payment, an invoice, will be issued within 14 days after the payment is received. In the case you need e-invoice before conference, please, indicate it in the registration form. The printed invoice will be available on the day of the conference.

The Faculty of Commerce has had a long and firm place among other higher education institutions in Slovakia which offer economics education. The Faculty has been devoted to trade-related disciplines (marketing, international business, tourism, business law). Prague University of Economics and Business (VŠE)

The Prague University of Economics and Business (VŠE) with its 14,000 students and a 67-year-old-history is the biggest public university of economics in the Czech Republic. Faculty of International Relations (FIR)

The Faculty of International Relations (FIR) is one of the largest faculties at the Prague University of Economics and Business. There are two main directions in both teaching and research: International Business and International Politics and Diplomacy. Other programs, focusing on Business and Law, International Politics and Diplomacy or Tourism also play an inevitable role. The key distinctive feature of FIR is high level of internationalization at all stages with strong emphasis on language knowledge of students.  FIR is the first faculty in the Czech Republic that has achieved accreditation of a study program by EFMD.
